Book your FREE consultation:
If you are thinking of getting hair extensions the first step is to get in touch with me.
Attend your consultation:
We will discuss your requirements for your dream look and check the condition of your hair to ensure your hair is suitable for extensions. Whether you would like to achieve incredible volume, sensational length - or both - I will advise you on the best course of action to take to ensure your hair is completely transformed!
One of the most important stages of the consultation is to match your hair colour to our extensions, making sure I have the closest match for your hair for beautiful blending and to make your new length look as natural as possible. This can involve the use of different coloured extensions which can be worked into your hair to achieve a blended, or highlighted effect which perfectly matches the colours and tones of your own hair.
Once you are happy to go ahead with your new look I ask you to book your appointment. I then order and prepare your bespoke hair extensions which are perfectly tailored to your needs.
It's install day!
We carefully prepare your new hair prior to your arrival to ensure you don't need to spend longer in the chair than is necessary.
On the day of your application, we ask that you wash your hair but ensure that you do not apply any conditioner to the root area, as this may cause the bonds to slip.
The install process usually takes one to two hours depending on the method of hair you have booked. In the meantime, you can sit back and relax whilst we create your stunning new look.
Once all of your new extensions are in place we style your new longer, thicker hair so you can leave the salon feeling fabulous with your brand new look.
TAKING CARE OF YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS
What to do
Tie your hair back in a loose ponytail or plait before bed or exercising to avoid tangling or pulling.
Brush your hair & hair extensions thoroughly before washing your hair
Use professional hair products that are NOT silicone or oil-based. We need protein in the hair.
Use a deep moisturizing conditioners
ALWAYS use a leave-in moisturizer and heat protectant on your hair after been washed.
Ensure that your hairdryer is on a LOW heat setting when drying the roots of your hair where the extensions join.
Brush your hair every morning and night. We recommend using a Dentagle Brush on your hair extensions to avoid catching the attached area
Loyalty to your hair maintenance. Yes, our hair extensions are human hair but they are not attached to your scalp so the only nutrients they get is what you put on them, unlike your natural hair that gets replenished from your scalp. This is why using the best shampoo and conditioner as well as leave-in moisturizer and heat protectant is so important to keep your locks healthy.
What NOT to do
Never go to bed with wet hair. It will cause the extensions to tangle. If you prefer to wash your hair in the evening you must dry it completely before bed.
Do not massage the root area around the extensions. When shampooing your hair always use the tips of your fingers never your palms to avoid matting.
Do not rub the hair vigorously when shampooing or conditioning.
Keep conditioner and treatment at least 2 inches away from the bond/tape as this can cause the extensions to slip or fall out.
Do not bleach or color your extensions yourself.
After washing your hair and you have applied the moisturizer allow your hair to be 50-70% dry before brushing, this applies to letting it dry naturally or with a dryer.
When brushing your extensions always start from the ends of the hair and work your way up. Hold the section your brushing from the root while you brush each section to avoid any tension caused by knots. Be gentle as possible remember the extensions are semi-permanent and can come out or pull your own hair out if it’s done too vigorously.
Do NOT wet hair in Pool or Sea water. Salt water and chlorine will dry your extensions out, it’s best to avoid this altogether.
I've lost a bond, what should I do?
Losing a few bons is normal. Some lose 5-10 in the first few weeks, many lose zero in the entire 12 weeks. It depends on many factors including oils in your natural hair, products and brushes you use, how you care for the hair and how fine your natural hair is. If you lose a couple of bonds don't worry, most clients have 100 - 200 strands installed loosing anywhere from 1 to 20 during your wear can happen.
I've lost a bond and looks like some of my hair is attached.
Even with no extensions in, most people lose up to 100 hair per day through brushing etc, wearing extensions is no different to your natural hair will continue its typical shedding cycle, therefore you may find you lose the odd bond which has come away with your natural hair. A few strands of hair sprounting out the top is normal, but if you have any concerns, please contact us.
Can I use heated styling appliances on my hair?
Yes, you can use hairdryers or straighteners, just like you would on your own hair. Please bear in mind the longevity and quality of the hair will reduce dramatically if excessive heat is applied. Putting direct heat on the bonds will cause them to melt so it is important to avoid catching them on straighteners, wands, tongs, etc. Always use a heat protectant before you apply any heat.
Can I colour my hair?
Yes, but avoid the area where the extension attaches to your hair bond/tape/Weft. We recommend getting a fresh colour before getting your hair extensions applied. Then, by the time your roots need retouching there will be enough space for your colour technician to confidently touch up your regrowth without applying colour to your hair extensions.
Can I use sauna/steam rooms?
We do not recommend using saunas or steam rooms as prolonged periods of excessive heat and dampness may cause your bonds to soften.
Can I remove the hair extensions myself?
We strongly advise against removing your own extensions as this can lead to your own hair being damaged and will cause breakage and potential tention alopecia
How does suscreen affect hair extensions?
We are all aware of sunscreen staining clothes, but SPF protection could also be staining your extensions hair too. Dyed blonde hair or blonde hair extensions are particularly susceptible to discoloration; turning pink or orange in patches at the ends of their hair. Those with darker locks, may notice a slight change in color, but the effect is much more noticeable on blonde hair which has been subject to more processing.
